Arrangements have been made by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government to take action covering the entire country during the week from 15th to 21st of September, which is the Local Government Week 2025, with the aim of creating a city of renaissance that fulfils the needs of the community and safeguards the living environment.

15th of September is the Mobile Service Day and 16th of September is dedicated for environment and planting of trees. The third day is the Health and Sanitation Day and 18th of September is dedicated for enhancement of income. 19th of September is dedicated for promotion of literature, education and libraries. 20th of September is declared as the Public Utility Day and the last day is dedicated for awarding of certificates.

A press conference to brief on this was held on 8th of September at the Department of Government Information under the patronage of Dr. A.H.M.H. Abayarathna, Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, P. Ruwan Senarath, Deputy Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government and S. Aloka Bandara, Secretary of the Ministry.
