The Sri Lanka Scientific Service held its second annual conference ceremoniously on the 25th of this month at the Nila Medura auditorium, Colombo. The theme of this two-day conference was "Nation Building through Integral Research." This conference, organized by the Scientific Service Division of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, was attended by public officers representing the scientific service at an island-wide level.
Prior to this two-day conference, the Ministry of Public Administration had taken steps to organize workshops on research methodologies for officers of the Sri Lanka Scientific Service for a period of 6 months. Simultaneously, the relevant officers were required to prepare research theses based on their place of work. Significantly, these research projects were conducted based on the data of the institutions in which they serve. This year, 55 officers of the Scientific Service submitted their research work and the research projects conducted were evaluated by a panel consisting of university lecturers and senior officers of the Sri Lanka Scientific Service. A total of 37 research papers selected from that evaluation were presented at this year's conference and have been published on the website of the Ministry of Public Administration.
