Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena stated that the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government should be ready to bear the prioritized responsibilities of implementing the development projects around the country within year 2024. Prime Minister expressed these ideas at the first progress review meeting of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government in year 2024. Prime Minister further stated that H.E. the President is due to issue the relevant circulars on the proposed development projects to be implemented around the country in years 2024, within a few days. The prioritized responsibility of implementing the said development projects should be borne by District Secretaries, Gama Niladharies and Development Officers under the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government. These development projects are extended up to the level of Governors, Provincial Chief Secretaries, Commissioners of Local Government and Local Government Institutions and it will lead to a positive change in people's lives.

Prime Minister emphasized that all the officers of the ministry should work together to fulfill the prioritized responsibility of the said development projects.

Prime Minister instructed to take prompt action to appoint suitable officers to the posts which remain vacant in the Administrative Service and Local Government Service at present.

It was revealed that nearly twenty five thousand Multi-Purpose Assistants recruited under the Department of Multi-Purpose Development have been absorbed into the permanent service and the proposal for confirming the remaining four thousand officers in the Divisional Secretariats, District Secretariats and the relevant Provincial Council to which the officers are attached, has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.

Prime Minister instructed the officers to take action to make the E-Grama Niladhari programme a target oriented programme to gain results for the convenience of the people in year 2024. Mr. Pradeep Yasarathne, Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government stated that his intention is to serve with dedication in year 2024 to create an efficient public service by continuing policies of the government and he invited all the officers to get ready to work together for this purpose. Senior officers of the ministry were present at this occasion.
